Key steps to landscape painting

1. Select a subject that has only four to six planes.

2. Select a subject that has only four to six value shifts. 

3. Identify and paint dark values first. 

4. Harmonize values just like you do colors. 

5. Connect lights, connect darks, do not dot...dot...dot. 

6. Objects in the distance are lighter.
